What Is Baptism?Baptism is a major spiritual step that tells the world that you have turned your back on your old way of life and made Jesus the Lord of your life.
BAPTISM COVENANT I have sinned and been separated from God. By God’s grace I have repented—turned my back on my sins and changed the direction of my life—and received God’s forgiveness. I offer myself as a living sacrifice to God, seeking to follow and obey him in every area of my life, trusting him to change me into his likeness. I commit myself to the family of God, to love and be loved, to serve and be served, and, as needed, to offer and receive loving correction. By this act today, I testify to all of you and to the world that Jesus is Lord. |

What Is Membership?
Membership at Hilltop (we call it becoming a Disciple—capital D) means much more than deciding that you want Hilltop to be your church home. It means that you have made Jesus Lord of your life and are entering into a covenant with our church family. A key piece of the Discipleship covenant is that you must wish to receive loving correction when you are falling short of living out your commitment to follow Jesus. Because our house churches are the main place where we live out this mutual accountability, active involvement in a house church or similar group is required for becoming a Disciple. (Click here for more on what it means to be a Disciple.)
If you are interested in becoming a Disciple, speak to your house church shepherd. You will fill out a short application, give it to one of your shepherds, and your shepherds will set up a time to interview you. Your shepherds will ask about your spiritual journey and ask what are the areas where you need to grow and how they can support you in that growth.
